Shannon was ill for the showstopper, so the judges sent nobody home.

Week 1 rankings are snap judgements, and we've made ours with total confidence and almost no evidence. That's the tradition. Mo walked away with Star Baker and we're not going to overthink it. Gary is the sleeper: Paul said "probably the best cake here" and Gary looked genuinely surprised to be noticed, which is exactly the energy we want in a front-runner. Tom winning Nigella's first-ever technical is the kind of result that looks like luck in week one and like destiny in week eight. The bottom is cruel because nobody went home. Shannon's illness means everyone gets a free week, but Danni's collapsing stout cake and toppling showstopper are going to be hard to shake in Biscuit Week. ❤️ S&A
